STAUNTON – Augusta County Clerk of Circuit Court R. Steven Landes today announced that two staff members recently received their designation as Master Deputy Clerks for professional achievement. Deputy Clerk Lisa A. Eye, and Deputy Clerk Nancy B. Hevener both achieved the Virginia Court Clerks’ Association (VCCA) Master Deputy Circuit Court Clerk certification.

“The Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is so proud and pleased that both Lisa Eye and Nancy Hevener have achieved this recognition,” Landes said. “Both ladies consistently demonstrate the professionalism, knowledge, and experience for which the Clerk’s Office Staff is well known in serving the citizens of Augusta County.”
Mrs. Eye was hired full-time by Landes on February 10, 2020, and she serves in the Land Record Division. She achieved her VCCA Master Deputy Circuit Court Clerk certification on August 21, 2023. Mrs. Hevener was hired full-time by Landes on February 10, 2020, and she serves in the Civil Division. She achieved her VCCA Master Deputy Circuit Court Clerk certification on October 2, 2023.
The Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office now has nine staff members who have achieved the VCCA Master Deputy Circuit Court Clerk Certification designation. The VCCA Master Deputy Circuit Court Clerk Certification was developed for professional development for Circuit Court Clerk’s Office staff members and is administered by the VCCA Career Development Committee. A Clerk’s staff member must be employed full-time for at least three years, and complete 60 hours of professional development training to receive the special designation.
The Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is in downtown Staunton at the Augusta County Courthouse. The Clerk serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal cases. The Clerk creates and maintains all court files and records, prepares court orders and jury lists, contacts jurors and issues summons and court processes.
