Delegate Landes’ Legislative Report
By Delegate R. Steven Landes
December 8, 2015

Thank you!
I am greatly humbled to once again be chosen by the residents of the 25th House District to serve as your representative in the Virginia General Assembly. I am proud of our accomplishments over the many years I have served, but there is much more work to be done. I am honored that you have given me the opportunity to serve once again and keep Virginia a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Thank you to all of you who supported me and to all of the Election Officers that made our November Election transpire so seamlessly. For those of you that did not support me, please know my door remains open and I hope to hear from you as well. I represent all members of the 25th District and together we will keep Virginia moving forward.
25th House District Advisory Committee
Would you like to get more involved with the happenings at the General Assembly and serve as a voice of the 25th District? I am currently seeking members who reside in the 25th House District to serve on my 25th House District Advisory Committee (HDAC). HDAC members provide insight and guidance on key issues for the 25th District. We will meet in January in Richmond and members’ input is welcome throughout my two-year term. If you are interested in serving as an HDAC member, please contact my Communications Director Will Wrobleski by email or at (603) 660-8811.
ICYMI2nd Annual House Education Summit & Daily News-Record Op-Ed
In case you missed it, the House Education Committee held our 2nd Annual House Education Committee Summit, where members of the Virginia House of Delegates focused on issues to help ensure the Commonwealth has a strong public education system that produces quality, high-skilled, and well-educated students capable of succeeding in tomorrow’s economy. The two-day Summit, was held at the University of Virginia (UVA) last month, and featured state and national experts who tackled topics such as early childhood education, public charter schools, higher education, high-performance principal leadership, the condition and needs of Virginia’s public education system, virtual learning, and ways to use student data to produce gains. To view materials from the Summit, please click here.
Also in November, my op-ed on promoting responsible environmental, conservation and preservation policies ran in the Daily News-Record on November 28th. This article provides an overview of our conservation efforts in the General Assembly over the past years, and I hope you’ll take a moment to read it.
Town Halls
As I cast votes in the General Assembly, I rely on input from the voters of the 25th District. It’s important for me to know what issues you are concerned about and to learn about what issues you believe we should be working on in the legislature. As part of my outreach efforts and to help engage residents of the 25th District, I will be holding three Town Hall meetings in January. I have listed the information on these meetings below and I hope you’ll be able to join us. I would also like to extend my thanks to Delegates Tony Wilt and Ben Cline, with whom I will be holding joint Town Hall meetings.

Legislative Survey
As I have done for the past twenty years, I am asking residents of the 25th House District to complete this legislative survey so I can better understand what issues are most important to you. I have talked with many of you over the years and found your input to be invaluable. We are anticipating a number of key issues that will be discussed and voted on in the upcoming session. Your feedback will assist me in my efforts to keep Virginia moving forward. Please be on the lookout for our 2016 Legislative Survey in your mailboxes. It will also be available on our website. If possible, I strongly encourage you to complete the survey online, which may be found here.
