WEYERS CAVE – Del. R. Steven Landes, R-Weyers Cave, announced today he is to participate in a meeting between General Assembly Members and the administration of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT); the focus of discussions will mainly be on Interstate 81 improvements. The Honorable Aubrey L. Layne, Jr., Virginia Secretary of Transportation, will lead a round table discussion between legislators and VDOT officials. The meeting is to be held at 1:00 p.m., June 30, 2015, at the Virginia Military Institute, Hall of Valor in Marshall Hall, Lexington, Virginia.
“During the 2014 General Assembly Session, I introduced Budget Amendment Item 427#2s which was passed in the final budget directing staff in the VDOT Bristol, Salem, and Staunton districts to develop a prioritized list of congestion relief and safety improvement projects along the I-81 corridor that could be implemented over the next 10 years,” said Landes. “I look forward to the round table discussion related to transportation issues and funding, especially those ideas which may help resolve the congestion and improve safety up and down I-81.”
